ABOUT OKANAGAN REALTY

Rom Houtstra was born in The Hague, the Netherlands.  After graduating with a degree in Corporate Law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he became a spokesman for over 400 businesses, (such as Crown Packaging, Unilever, Basf, Philips & Heineken), in environmental, marketing and legal issues. He was also the youngest person ever to negotiate and streamline the environmental issues, such as recycling and waste between the various, often-competitive packaging industries.  

After researching the North American market and lifestyle, Rom immigrated to Kelowna, BC Canada, to establish a manufacturing Company.  He developed, patented and produced a unique retractable truck canopy for pick-up trucks that was marketed and sold to dealerships and distributors in Canada and the United States

After spending more than 16 years developing skills in sales, negotiating and customer service in North America and in Western Europe, it was time for him to pursue the “ultimate” career change: Real Estate.  Rom started with Royal LePage Kelowna but moved to the Century21 real estate network, the largest real estate company in the world with over 6600 offices in 34 countries.

Rom is fluent in English and Dutch, and has a good understanding of German and French.  This has been a proven asset when dealing with business clients in Europe.

Rom’s legal, marketing and sales background, his knowledge of the European and North American markets as well as his genuine interest in people of all walks of life, has made him successful in both business and in personal life.
